CANCER IS ONLY A CHAPTER, IT IS NOT THE WHOLE STORY

YES, that's the t-shirt I wore (YUP, they are fake...the real ones tried to kill me). Wearing it where it's appropriate, I do not walk around with it every day. BUT  this and similar things sure helps with getting through the most challenging of times - humour, joy!  Which for me was instrumental in healing - the ability to laugh!

LET'S BEGIN WITH REAL + RAW:  CANCER SUCKS.  DO NOT LET IT DEFINE YOU.

It alters who you are and your world for sure; BUT if you allow it, it will show you your true strength, amidst your fears and uncertainty. When darkness knocks at your door. A scary unknown takes over your world. Your personal story begins, everyone and everything is different in every way.  Fighting it is one thing, recovery is a whole other.

*My story was advanced breast cancer with a secondary tumour on my lymph nodes; I had a mastectomy,  physiotherapy, high-level chemo, 25 rounds of radiation, a bi-lateral mastectomy and a tram-flap reconstruction.  Treatments upon treatments, tamoxifen [and its ramifications], a few plastic surgeries, due to some complications, recovery, setbacks, and further cancer scares. I could go on, but I think you get it.

*My story was long, hard and seemed like it would never end. But it finally did. I kicked its ass. BUT IT KICKED MINE FIRST.  Being a naturally inquisitive person, with countless medical professionals, I learned a myriad of things. Some the easy way and some, I will admit, the hard way. I am still learning, growing, it is an ongoing process.

*My story is I did come out a better person on the other side. I am living my best life.  It took work though".
